Frequently Asked Questions About Tuscan Neighborhood Villa Rentals
How do I make a booking?
Simply fill out our Tuscan villa rental booking information form elesewhere on this site. If you have other questions or comments about our Tuscany accommodations, you can also send us a fax or call us at the numbers provided on the Contact Us page. We will need to know your full mailing and E Mail addresses, your phone number and best time to reach you together with the dates you prefer in order to send you a preliminary contract. Alternate preferred dates would help determine availability.
What kind of standards should I expect?
Tuscanneighborhood does not compromise your living standards. Our self-catering villas are fully equipped with all modern conveniences. Do keep in mind, however, that the architecture and furnishings reflect the owners’ own personal tastes. Furthermore, it is precisely the kind of holiday that most visitors look for when they come to Tuscany....delving into the mentality, the culture and living like a native....So become one of the locals and live like one!
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is Saturday afternoon between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Checkout is Saturday morning by 10 a.m. Sometimes it is possible to accommodate exceptions. Please contact info@tuscanneighborhood.com for further clarification.
Do we really need a car?
Tuscany is a big place and we believe that a car is necessary to visit all its wonderful places. FYI: Driving in Tuscany is not difficult and is not as frantic as the big cities. If you decide to visit Florence or Rome, the town of Chiusi has a very important and well served train station with frequent trains to most cities.
What are available in Sarteano?
Both Hertz and Avis have agencies very close to the train station in the neighbouring town of Chiusi and they offer shuttle service.
What car rental agency shall I use?
We recommend Avis from the Chiusi Station. If you book through them at the Chiusi concessionaire, they offer Tuscan Neighborhood's clients a preferred rate.
Is there parking?
Yes, there is ample parking.
How will I get from the airport to the train station?
You can take a taxi or if you opt to use our car service, we will arrange for a driver to meet you at the airport.
How will I get from the airport to the Hotel Nazionale in Rome?
A car will meet you at the airport.. We do not suggest keeping a car in Rome.
How will I know how things work in the villa?
There is a welcome book in each property that explains everything.
How will I get from the airport to the villa?
You can go by train to Chiusi/Chianciano and rent a car or rent a car directly at the airport.
How long is the drive from the airport to the villa?
The trip takes approximately 1 hour 15 minutes depending on traffic. The distance is about 150 kms.. You will receive driving directions from us.
How long is the drive from the Italian autostrada to the villa?
The villa is conveniently situated and the drive is approximately 5 minutes.
Can I take the train directly from the airport to the villa?
You have 2 options...you can take the train from the airport to Orte, change trains and get another to Chiusi/Chianciano or you can go from the airport to Termini Station (Rome's main train station) and get a direct train to Chiusi/Chianciano.
How long is the drive from Chiusi/Chianciano station to the villa?
About 7 minutes.
What current/voltage is in the villa?
The voltage is 220.
How can I go to Florence or Rome?
You can drive or take a train from Chiusi/Chianciano station.
How far is Florence or Rome?
Both are about 1 hour 15 minutes away depending on traffic.
Do people speak only Italian?
Most people are used to visitors and international tourists so they know some phrases in languages other than Italian.
Do I need to speak Italian?
It is not necessary, but you could bring along a phrase book.
How can I find out about local fairs for antiques or celebrations and sacre (local culinary food festivals)?
Every town has a Pro Loco; a local tourist information point. Simply consult them in each town for detailed and updated information on exact dates and times for these events. The staff are often multi-lingual and very helpful.
Can I buy local products?
Yes, it is recommended to purchase in quantities for consumption during your trip. As there are customs limitations on alcohol imports and on some foodstuffs like cheeses and ham, it is wise to have these products vacuum-packed. Because of the US Department of Agriculture regulations.
Are there thermal baths in the area?
Tuscany abounds with natural sources of water, thus many thermal cures are a short distance away from Sarteano.
Can I buy wine?
Yes, but it is wise to ship your purchase, especially if is a large quantity.
Can I buy art?
Yes, but it is recommended that you ship directly from where you purchased the piece. They will take care of customs declarations, etc.
Can I make telephone calls?
Yes, but it is wise to use a pre-paid phone card like Edicard or Europecard.
Can I use my computer?
Yes.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, we require a deposit of 50% and balance is due no later than 60 days before the beginning of the rental period. Please consult Terms and Conditions for more details.
The rental period is Saturday to Saturday? Can I stay less?
You can stay for a lesser period, but we will not discount the rate for less than a week.
Is the availability that appears on the web site current and accurate?
Yes, the availability is updated as soon as a booking is paid for and confirmed.
Are linens provided?
Linens and bedding are provided weekly. Towels and sheets are for interior use only and must not leave the premises. If you require more than what is usually provided, there is an additional cost and will be charged accordingly.
Is the kitchen fully equipped? Is there a clothes washer and dishwasher?
Yes.
What happens if something breaks?
We kindly ask you to replace it if possible. Otherwise, kindly inform us so that arrangements can be made to replace it for our next guests.
What is the cancellation policy?
Our bookings are final however in the event of a cancellation; there are two options you will have. Please see the Terms and Conditions for more details on this.
What happens if we have a problem during our stay?
You will be given contact phone numbers in the event there are any problems.
